Nalhaun, Ruler of the Hollow WorldPhase 2
“"Your journey ends here..."
— Nalhaun
Nalhaun, The Burnished King is a Hardmode boss that is intended to be fought after Golem.
Spawning
Nalhaun does not spawn naturally and can only be summoned by using The Ancient Crown, which is given to the player upon defeating Golem and The Vagrant of Space and Time.
Behavior
Upon spawning, Nalhaun creates a red border that encloses the player in a small are around the boss. Nalhaun remains stationary throughout the entire first phase.
Phase 1
Nalhaun follows a set pattern of attacks.
- Ivory Admonishment: Nalhaun spawns several projectiles that move in an arc.
- Velvet Apogee: Nalhaun spawns several red projectiles in a shotgun-like pattern.
- Velvet Azimuth: Nalhaun spawns three rings of red projectiles.
- Carrion Call: Nalhaun summons two Large Rubies that shoot red projectiles towards the player.
- Leftward Rend: Nalhaun swings his sword in a massive area to the left of him.
- Rightward Rend: Nalhaun swings his sword in a massive area to the right of him.
- Inner Agony: Nalhaun creates a circle area around him and damages all players inside of it.
- Outer Agony: Nalhaun creates a circle area around him and damages all players outside of it.
- Monarch's Feint: Prepares for a "fake" attack, that reverses the damaging area. This is warned in chat with "The Burnished King reverts the next attack!"
Rends and Agonies can be Delayed. Delayed attacks strike in tandem with the attack that follows it.
Phase 2
In addition to all Phase 1 attacks, Nalhaun gains the following abilities:
- Ars Laevateinn: Nalhaun creates a massive sword with a large orange ring around it and swings it once for massive damage to players caught within the ring. This attack is cast only once, after reaching 2nd Phase.
- Burnished Bladework: Nalhaun swings his sword and creates slashing attacks at the position of the player.
- Apostasy: Nalhaun creates several red stars in the arena. They explode after a while.
- Transplacement: Nalhaun teleports above the player. The arena borders move along with him.

- "It is time I bade you farewell..." (Upon death)

Tips
- If possible, the player should fight Nalhaun at night so that projectiles will be more easily visible and thus, easier to dodge.
- Players should also consider using a Cobalt Shield or its upgrades to gain knockback immunity, preventing them from being knocked into other projectiles. Alternatively, they can use a grappling hook on a platform to achieve the same effect.
- Nalhaun has a large health pool, as such it may be advised to go for a more damage-oriented build.
- Nalhaun does not deal contact damage. This may be useful for dealing massive damage with short-ranged or melee weapons.
- Nalhaun's damage doubles on expert mode and triples in master. It is advised to pay close attention to Nalhaun's attacks, especially the delayed / reversed phase.
Trivia
- Ars Laevateinn is a reference to Arknights, as it’s nearly identical in appearance to Surtr’s weapon.
- The name is also a reference to Surtr's Skill 1, Laevatain.
- However, that is also a reference to Norse Mythology, the Lævateinn being a weapon crafted by Loki to slay Viðofnir atop the Mímameiðr Tree.
- If The Stars Above Music mod is enabled, the theme "Shadows Cast by the Mighty: Swift Judgement" by REVO will play during Nalhaun's first phase. When he enters his second phase, his theme will transition to "Might of the Hellblade", also composed by REVO.
- Quotes used in this boss fight all originate from "Thunder God" Cidolfus Orlandeau, a raid boss in Final Fantasy XIV.
