Asphodene and Eridani

This page is for the bossfight. For their individual characters, see Asphodene and Eridani.
Asphodene and Eridani are a Hardmode Boss that can be fought after defeating Plantera, and all the previous The Stars Above bosses. Despite the name, they are a single stationary enemy. If The Stars Above's final boss has been defeated, Asphodene and Eridani will increase in difficulty with new and stronger attacks.
Spawning
Asphodene and Eridani are summoned when the player uses Starfarer's Memoria and cannot be summoned in other ways. Starfarer's Memoria is obtained after defeating Plantera and having all The Stars Above bosses before Penthesilea, the Witch of Ink defeated. It can only be summoned in the Neon Veil (though pre-2.1 worlds drop this condition).
Behavior
When summoned, like most The Stars Above Bosses, a box appears around the player. Asphodene and Eridani spawn in the middle, just above the player, and fall to the ground by gravity. They remain stationary during the fight, attacking the player with various attacks themed after other The Stars Above Bosses, Stellar Novas and Weapons.
Original Fight
- Twin Prototokia - Two swords appear in each upper corner of the player's screen, traveling rapidly towards the player to make an 'X'.
- Elegant Brushwork - 3 brushes appear on Asphodene and Eridani and slowly travel in a fan-shape in the player's direction. After reaching the edge of the arena, they turn around and go back to Asphodene and Eridani. They repeat this once more, disapperaing when the hit the arena edge the 4th time.
- Argyropeia (Up / Down / Left / Right) - A single row or column of small orbs appear close to the player in the indicated direction. They travel in the opposite direction for a few seconds before disappearing.
- Threads of Fate (1-3) - Indicators will appear. After a moment, they turn into blades, damaging the player. (1) will create an 'X' formation targeting the player, (2) will have 5 closly place horizontal indicators, while (3) has more horizontal indicators further spread apart across the arena.
- Lixiviate - Yellow-Green bolts appear in the top right of the screen and rain down towards the bottom left.
- Linear Mystics - Several purple '<>' will harmlessly fall to partway down the screen. After a few seconds, they will turn into two balls of energy that fly out horizontally from each '<>'
- Athanoric Arena - Inflicts 'Athanoric Arena' on the player, causing ???
- Ringmasters Will (Move / Stop) - A message will appear in the chat, alongside the player recieving a debuff 'Ringmaster's Will'. When the debuff expires, the player needs to stop or move in the indicated direction or recieve damage
- Gemini Burst - Red bolts appear in the top left of the screen and rain down towards the bottom right.
- Artistic Dissonance - A line leading to a circle to the player's left or right will appear. After a few seconds, the player will teleport to the indicator. The direction is random each time.
- Chromatic Cascade - 5 harmless purple orbs shoot out of the player in a star pattern. After a moment, they will burst, each shooting 8 brighter purple projectiles in cardinal directions.
- Freezing Azimuth - 12 blue stars appear above the player, slowly falling towards them.
- Phlogiston Pyrotechnics - Two horizontal rows - one above and one below the player - of yellow stars appear. After a moment, left to right, they begin exploding in a small area.
- Efflouresent Brushwork - Identical to 'Elegant Brushwork', except there are 6 brushes instead of 3.
- Diamond Dust - Two circles appear over the player in the shape of a Venn Diagram. After a few moments they fade away.
Post-Final Boss
- Blood Moon (3) - 6 red orbs fly out from the Starfarers in a hexagon pattern
- Titanomachia (1-2) - Indicators appear horizontally and vertically across the screen. For (1), the projectiles will appear along the bottom moving up and right flying left. For (2), this is inverted.
- Ars Laevateinn - A giant red sword will appear, centered on the player. After a moment, it will spin, damaging the player if inside.
- Burnished Bladework ((1-3, Normal) / (1-4, Strong)) - Indicators appear around the player. After a moment, they turn into red beams that hurt the player. A higher number means more individual beams. Normal attacks directly target the player, while Strong attacks hit a larger area
- Ephemeral Edge - A row of spinning yellow swords appears above the player. After a moment, each object splits and travels horizontally upward and downward.
- Scions And Sinners - Several large yellow cresents appear around the Starfarers, damaging the player.

- Severance of Fate (1-2) - Two beacons appear near the player, one of which the player is tethered to, inflicting the debuff 'Terror Tether' to the player. This does ???.
- Bury The Light (1) - Similar to Burnished Bladework, indicators will appear near the player, before blue beams will streak across.
- Absolute Summoning (2) - Several phantoms shaped like players appear. Some will have a Kroniic Principality spin around them, while others shoot orbs horizontally and vertically out of themselves.
- Carian Dark Moon (1) - The namesake weapon, Carian Dark Moon, appears above the Starfarers. After a moment, several cresents begin flying out of the sword towards the player.
- Takonomicon (1) - Portals appear along the ground near the player. After a moment, large purple tentacles appear from them, damaging the player.

Tips
- It is recommended to start the fight while slightly above ground, in order to maximize space for the arena.
- Asphodene and Eridani are affected by gravity. Despite spawning in the air, they will fall to the floor, and if you're arena has holes can fall out of the arena, making it difficult to attack them or causing them to despawn.
